स्व-मूल्यांकन – Self-appraisal

एक लड़का किराने की दुकान पर गया और उसने सिक्का डालनेवाले फोन से एक नंबर डायल किया. दुकानदार उसे देख रहा था और उसकी बातें भी सुन सकता था.

लड़का – मैम, क्या आप मुझे आपके बगीचे की घास काटने का काम देंगीं?

औरत – (फोन के दूसरी ओर) मेरे पास तो पहले से ही एक लड़का काम कर रहा है.

लड़का – मैमे, लेकिन मैं उससे भी कम पैसे में ये काम करने को तैयार हूं.

औरत – लेकिन जो लड़का मेरे यहां काम करता है मैं उसके काम से खुश हूं.

लड़का – (दृढ़ता से) मैम, मैं आपके दालान और गैरेज को भी साफ कर दूंगा और आपके बगीचे को कॉलोनी का सबसे सुंदर बगीचा बना दूंगा.

औरत – धन्यवाद, लेकिन मुझे इसकी ज़रूरत नहीं है.

लड़के ने मुस्कुराते हुए फोन का रिसीवर रख दिया. दुकानदार यह सब सुन रहा था, उसने लड़के को अपने पास बुलाया और उसससे कहा.

दुकानदार – मुझे तुम्हारा रवैया बहुत अच्छा लगा. मुझे तुम जैसे काम करनेवाले लड़के की ज़रूरत है. तुम यहां काम करोगे?

लड़का – नहीं, धन्यवाद.

दुकानदार – (हैरत से) लेकिन अभी तुम फोन पर काम पाने के लिए मिन्नतें कर रहे थे!

लड़का – नहीं जी, मैं तो अपने काम के प्रदर्शन का जायज़ा ले रहा था. उस महिला के घर काम करने वाला लड़का मैं ही हूं.

A boy went into a grocery store picked up the payment phone. He punched in seven digits (phone numbers). The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation.

Boy: ‘Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?

Woman: (at the other end of the phone line): ‘I already have someone to cut my lawn.’

Boy: ‘Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now.’

Woman: I’m very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.

Boy: (with more perseverance) : ‘Lady, I’ll even sweep your curb and your garage, so you will have the prettiest garden in the colony.’

Woman: No, thank you.

With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy.

Store Owner: ‘Son… I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job.’

Boy: ‘No thanks.’

Store Owner: But you were really pleading for one.

Boy: No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the Job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady I was talking to!’
